When it comes to short lets, good design isn’t just decoration. It’s your shop front, your sales pitch and your customer loyalty programme, all in one. A quick scroll through your photos and a guest has either fallen for your home or moved on to the next. And when they arrive, they judge all over again. Every scuff, wobble and tired cushion gets noticed.
I’ve spent years as a transatlantic nomad, hosting, travelling and staying in other people’s homes in the US and UK. That’s taught me exactly what makes guests feel at home, book again and leave glowing reviews. It’s also taught me how quickly an unloved home loses its shine: a few lukewarm reviews, a slide down the search rankings, and suddenly you’re cutting your nightly rate just to fill the calendar.
I do things differently.
I design short stay interiors that look beautiful, photograph well and are built for the realities of hosting. A busy rental sees more wear in a year than most homes see in five: suitcases knocking walls, guests who don’t take their shoes off, and a deep clean every few days. Bargain furniture and flimsy finishes look tired within months and need replacing again and again. I know where to spend and where to save: hard-wearing fabrics, washable paints, quality mattresses and pieces made to be repaired. The result is an interior that still looks as good on its hundredth booking as it did on its first, and costs you less over time.
